Wet Specimens:
They all go through a process of formalin fixation, the liquid they are in now is 70% Isopropyl alcohol. This needs to be kept out of direct sunlight, and away from heat sources, cigarettes and open flames. Best to keep it out of reach of children and pets. It is normal for the liquid to discolour over time and this can easily be replaced or the jar topped up.
Taxidermy:
Heat and/or humidity are both enemies of taxidermy items. Therefore it is best to keep out of direct sunlight, hot areas and damp conditions for any prolonged amount of time. You may give your new furry friend a blow dry on low or no heat or a light dust off with a paint or make up brush when needed.
Bones/Skulls:
Are also best kept out of direct sunlight to avoid harsh bleaching and degrading of bones and skulls. Best displayed and cared for indoors as they do make great homes for our insect and arachnid friends - but this can also be a desired outcome for some lol!
